Economic Frames in Iraq 24 Satellite Channel News Broadcasts and Mechanisms for Their Treatment

Objectives: This research aims to identify the economic frames used in the coverage of news on Iraq 24 and to determine the elements of emphasis and the mechanisms adopted by the channel in presenting economic news within its main newscasts, thereby illustrating how economic events are framed for the audience.
Methodology: This research is descriptive in nature. The researcher employed a descriptive-analytical survey approach, utilizing content analysis to examine the subject, identify its indicators, and analyze its content, as well as to monitor patterns in the coverage of economic news. The research sample included the main news broadcasts of Iraq 24 during the period from 1/1/2022, to 13/3/2022.
Results: The research findings showed that Iraq 24 adopted specific frames in covering economic events within its news broadcasts, focusing on particular frames when addressing economic topics. The “humanitarian concerns” frame ranked first among the frames used in covering economic news, according to the criteria adopted in the study.
Conclusion: The study concluded that the channel paid attention to specific economic frames, prioritizing the “human concerns” frame in presenting economic news. This reflects its approach to covering news in a way that emphasizes the human dimension and its impact on the audience. The results also underscore the importance of media frames in shaping the audience’s perception of economic issues and enhancing their understanding of them within the channel’s media context.
